Before I get to my review of DS2, I thought I should play a little catch-up with you in case you have no clue as to what Downline Secrets "Part 1" is about.

The story of Andy and the Safelist that WASN'T a Safelist!

Hi Readers!

I've got a little story to tell you today. I joined a program called Triple Your List on the 13th March 2007, and upgraded immediately with the One Time Offer at the price of $197. It's free to join, but I like to gamble on the programs with a good looking plan that have a one time upgrade (i.e. you pay once ever)

I then didn't pay any more attention to the program (I know, I should know better), but on the 17th April I got 3 downline automatically added to my List Cycle System. This made me log back in and read a little about the program :)

Then on the 18th April I got another 3! This was cool!
Then later that same day, another 3!

Total of 9 free members that I didn't work for! This is part of the Cycle Plan that places people below you automatically. Yes it took over a month, but that was without my efforts!

At this point I decided to place a few adverts and banners on some of the Traffic Exchanges and Safelists I use.

On the 19th I signed up 3 new Direct Referrals.
On the 20th I signed up a further 12 Direct Referrals.

And one upgrade earning me a cool $97.

On the 21st, I guess I was a little lazy as only 3 new Direct Referrals. :)

I work other programs as well (as you know) so my attention got drawn to marketing other programs at this point, but on autopilot, this continued to grow.

A popular phrase is that time is money. I'm sure you've heard that - right?

Well let me ask you something, if time is money, then how are you investing your time in your real estate investment business? Is it a profitable investment?

Are you doing things that will bring a return on your investment or are you wasting the one equal resource among all of us? With so many opportunities available to us, sometimes it's easy to get caught up watching what everyone else is doing instead of minding our own business. See, as a real estate entrepreneur you must constantly be on guard to always respect and honor your time.

So, allow me to go over the areas that you should be investing your time. These areas are the most important areas for you to see real growth in your real estate investment business.

First, you should focus on your marketing systems to continuously bring you leads of motivated sellers every single month that will beg you to buy their home. The marketing of your business is the lifeblood to its growth. As you are first starting out, you may have a limited budget; therefore you must focus on low cost, direct response strategies to get people to act immediately. Then, as you complete a few deals, re-invest a percentage of your profits back into your business for marketing.

Next, you must focus on building relationships. Everyone that you meet may know of someone that you could help out. When you think of building relationships, think about the people that see motivated sellers all day long and work to build alliances with these people as they can refer you business every single month. After all, many of these businesses are advertising and it's impossible for them to assist everyone that comes through the doors. For example, if you develop a relationship with a mortgage company, they could refer you leads of homeowners that are in default that call trying to refinance before they are foreclosed on. You could by their house to stop the foreclosure. See, these types of loans are almost impossible to do and you could be helping the mortgage company by taking care of their customer. And as a result, you'll get repeat business.

The next area I want to discuss is mastering the art of negotiations with motivated sellers. You must first learn to build rapport with each seller before talking about any numbers relating to the house that you're looking to purchase. It's a proven fact that negotiations will go better for you if the party likes you. So, find an in that you can talk about with the seller, then slowly move into talking about the house focusing on a solution for the pain they are going through by owning the property.

Finally, last and certainly not least, your exit strategy becomes one of the major pieces to this puzzle that you must master to creating big paydays. Many times this can be a tougher area to crack because all your focus has been on how to acquire the deal and not on how to sell it. Just look at most real estate forums and you'll see everyone wants to focus on the latest, greatest way to acquire a deal. Master your exit strategies and create a systemized approach to getting out of deals in record time.

So, if you want to grow your business to where you are doing 1-2 deals or more per month then you need a system that is constantly working for you bringing you deals in every month. These systems help to take the guesswork out of what you should do next. Now, invest your time wisely creating systems in these four areas and watch your real estate investment business grow!

Tracking and Testing - the Solution to Attracting More Visitors

Every serious online business owner eats, sleeps and breaths targeted traffic to their website. They spend the most money and time trying to attract first-time visitors to their sites in hopes of generating new sales and subscribers. But, believe it or not, it’s easier to increase your income by simply selling more of the visitors you already get than trying to chase down more traffic.

The solution? Tracking & testing! Probably the most overlooked and underutilized, but certainly the most powerful strategy for increasing sales and opt-in subscriptions. If you spend any time or money on advertising, you must start testing and tracking. Simply put, “tracking” means you measure the effectiveness of each individual advertising source you use to promote your business.

For example, if you advertise in email newsletters, you should know how effective each newsletter ad rates compared to all the others in terms of sales and subscribers generated. This enables you to know whether an ad makes or loses money. Testing means you constantly look for ways to improve your ads in small, incremental amounts that add up over time.

The most common (and effective) tests you can run are A-B split tests, which pit two variables against each other to determine which converts more lookers into buyers. Split testing headlines, price points, and guarantee periods make, from my experience, the best places to start testing.

The reason testing and tracking can double your profits (or more) lies in the power of small, incremental improvements. Lets say, for example, you decide to do a series of split tests on a website that currently converts 1 in every 100 visitors (1% conversion). You test, headline, price, guarantee and a payment plan. If each of the 4 tests yields a .25% increase in conversion, you would not see an increase in sales to 2% (4x.25%), but actually an increase to almost 2.5% since each improvement builds on the last!

The most basic tool in testing and tracking revolves around the use of advertising link tracker software. These tools measure the number of clicks on individual advertisements (text links, banners, pay-per-click ads, etc) and then measure sales or subscriptions generated as a result.

You get two choices with link trackers: a hosted service or software you install on your own server. A hosted service offers the advantage of easy setup and use. Most of the time you just sign up for the service, enter the link you want to track, get your tracking code, and you’re off to the races.

The disadvantage of a hosted service is that, if it gets abused, using the URL of the service in your links can get your emails blocked or your pages banned by search engines. The advantage of hosting the software on your own server is that you maintain a higher degree of technical control and can avoid the banning issues. The main disadvantage of hosting it yourself involves the fact that you really don’t have anyone to call for help if something goes wrong.

One of the most popular hosted link trackers online is HyperTracker.com, though I’ve not used the service. My favorite link tracker is actually part of an integrated e-commerce system at http://www.MysiteSales.com. This service enables you to track your sales and subscriptions made through the shopping cart.

Two options for software you install on your own server are Dynatracker.com and ProAnalyzer.com. Both provide decent link tracking, though no system I’ve tested provides 100% accurate results. I will make this short and to the point.

That's right. You heard me correctly. It isn't possible. These companies know it but they pray on the hopes of all of us by making these claims that NEVER happen. If I'm wrong. Now that you have your list of keywords you need to sign up for free again with google adwords. When you have setup your adwords account you need to create an add that will sell your product. These adds are placed along the side of google search bars. Your add must be catchy and attract attention to web searchers and must also relate to your keywords.

Set your campaign level and your add will run automatically. As you have decided upon keywords you are getting targeted traffic to your site that will be willing to pay for your product.
If somebody types in your keyword in the google search bar, your add will be displayed throughout the day and you will get traffic and sales.

This is the most important tip that I will give you. If you do not see money coming in within the first hr be patient. A good way to test whether a product is going to be a seller is to use the following rule...

You should make at least one sale for every one hundred clicks on your add. If you have not made a sale by 300 clicks then you either have the wrong key words or the product you are promoting is not good.

Never give up and keep trying. Think of it in numbers...If you get 300 vistiors in a week and make 3 sales a week then that could be earnings of $150 per week depending on the amount of commission on the given product.

Up your campaign level and you will increase your sales.

Just days before her wedding, Sylvie Fortin was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Now we had to face whether or not we would be telling our family at the wedding. We opted not to and decided to tell everyone after the honeymoon,” said Ms. Fortin, an Ottawa entrepreneur.

People were startled by her and her new husband’s announcement because they were able to pull off a huge wedding with no one knowing.

When they came back from the honeymoon her doctor told her a mastectomy (removal of the breast) was needed and then she would have to undergo chemotherapy.

“We knew that our lives were about to change dramatically in the coming months.”

After the initial shock of the diagnosis Ms. Fortin said it donned on her there was really no good reason for this to have happened.

“It was out of the blue, and certainly not anything anyone ever expects.”

What she realized was that even though there was no good reason for this to have happened, she could turn it into something positive.

She decided to share her story through her online blog because she found it therapeutic, both for her and other people living with breast cancer. She knew she wanted to use her illness to help other people.

“I set out to make a conscious effort, for everything that was difficult I was going to spin it into something a lot more positive.”

One of the things she knew was going to happen was she was going to lose her hair to chemotherapy.

“I had this long curly hair my entire life. It was something that was my pride and joy and I didn’t imagine cutting my hair short let alone shaving it off. So when I found out I was going to lose my hair I thought this cannot go to waste and decided to donate it instead.”

So, Ms. Fortin decided to shave her head before she started losing it and donated it to, Locks of Love (www.locksoflove.org), a charity that gives custom-made human hair wigs to children with cancer.

Just this act of generosity would be enough for most people but Fortin decided to do more by selling virtual real estate on her bald head to people who pledged donations to the Avon Foundation’s Breast Cancer Crusade.

A $50 donation granted the donor one inch of head space which was blogged live with the video of the head shaving event at www.breastcancervictory.com. People can click on a link that will take them to a donor website. Her shave-a-thon raised more then $13,000 for the Avon Foundation and provided many inches of hair for children’s wigs.

Although she is located in Ottawa she decided she needed to spread her message around the country as cancer is something that affects most people in some way at some point in their life.

“Breast cancer knows no boundaries.”

The message that she wants to give to people is that going through anything difficult, from cancer to divorce to unemployment, is there is nothing that has to get a person down.

“Anything difficult can be turned into a positive but it takes some creative imagination,” Ms. Fortin explained. “It is my hope that other people who encounter difficulties can read this and gain strength from knowing that they are not alone.”

DesktopLightning explains the mathematical reason for this limit, if you are interested, but the main point is that even if you join a year after the initial release, you will not be inundated with messages.Second, if you are a Platinum member (currently $14.99 per month if you purchase it immediately after signing up; if you wait to upgrade it's $19.99 per month), you benefit from the "Platinum Bonus" program described above, in which you are able to send messages twice a week to 80 randomly selected Desktop Lightning members.

Recommendation

If you have a website or you promote someone else's' website as an affiliate, you need to drive traffic to it.
Without traffic, you won't get visitors. And without visitors, you won't make money, sales, get subscribers, etc.

What good is a website without any traffic?
And if the site is getting traffic, what good is it if it's not targeted traffic?

There are many ways to drive traffic to your site, both free and paid. But we are not going to talk about paid traffic right now. That is a totally different topic and could take hours to cover. So, back to free traffic.

Some ways of getting free traffic to your site is by Search Engine Optimization, surfing for traffic, or getting it passively.

SEO takes time and a lot of work. When you join sites that are surf for traffic sites, you have to look at other members' sites in order to earn advertising credits for your site to be displayed when another member is surfing.

The only problem with this is that although the traffic is free, it is not targeted. Everyone who is a member only surfs for the credit and very rarely even looks at the site, they just minimize their window on their PC and multi-task. So, the traffic is crap and worthless.

How I Opened My Own Bank!

Have you ever heard of the "three-six-three" rule of banking? It's quite simple:

Pay savers 3% before tax, charge borrowers 6%, and be on the golf course by 3pm!

Although this quip is a little tongue in cheek, it does sum up the heart of retail banking very simply: pay savers far less than you charge borrowers and you make big profits. Indeed, with the Bank of England's base rate at a historically low level of 4.5% a year, lending money on credit cards at an average annual interest rate of over 15.5% is a licence to print money!

Alas, the banks (and to a lesser degree, the building societies) have an iron grip over lending to individuals in the UK, and that will never change, right? Wrong -- and to prove it, I set up my own bank earlier this year!

What I did was become a member of Zopa:

The world's first online lending and borrowing exchange for individuals. Zopa harnesses the power of the Web to introduced lending members (people with spare cash) to borrowing members (people who want a personal loan). So, instead of saving or borrowing from a bank, you can lend to, or borrow from, a large group of individuals. Of course, Zopa represents a threat to the banks, because, being a peer-to-peer exchange (think of it as "eBay for money"), it completely cuts them out of the lending/borrowing equation.

The word "Zopa", is a term taken from business theory. It stands for Zone of Possible Agreement and is the overlap between one person’s bottom line (the lowest they’re prepared to get for something) and another person’s top line (the most they’re prepared to give for something). It’s the way people negotiate all sorts of stuff - buying a car, getting a mortgage - even a teenager negotiating with parents about staying out late. If there’s no Zopa, there’s no deal.

Zopa was launched over a year ago and now has over 100,000 members, so it has developed into a mature and liquid market for exchanging cash. Indeed, it's been so successful that it's being copied all over the world and is set to launch in the US later this year. Zopa is regulated by the Financial Services Authority and the Office of Fair Trading, and its founder, Richard Duvall, also started Egg, now the world's largest online bank. Furthermore, Zopa is backed by the founders of two massively successful Internet businesses, eBay and Skype.

Some financial commentators have gone so far as to describe Zopa a completely new asset class, to be ranked alongside cash, bonds and shares. Indeed, you can think of it as a "bond market for individuals", where one person raises a large amount by borrowing smaller sums from lots of others. Hence, savers and investors can use Zopa to diversify their portfolio beyond the usual assets (cash, bonds, property and shares) by becoming a lender.

As you can tell, I'm quite a fan of Zopa -- so much so in fact, that I've set up "BankOfMurray" and have been lending money throughout the Month. Although I love the socially responsible idea of saving borrowers from the greedy banks by lending to real people, I'm also happy with the returns. Indeed, they should comfortably beat the 5% before tax that I'm earning from keeping cash on deposit.

According to Zopa, the average gross (pre-tax) return to lending members is 7% a year and, thanks to almost zero bad debt, Zopa lenders are earning even higher returns than they'd budgeted for. Zopa lenders can lend between £10 and £25,000 over periods from six months to five years. And, naturally, all borrowers are properly identified and are subject to the same credit checks used by the banks like Equifax.

In fact, it's been great fun watching "Bank Of Murray" in action. During March, I lent money to a hundred different real people across the UK, from Aberdeen to Portsmouth, including two people from my borough. My borrowers (three-quarters of whom are male) range in age from 28 to 61, with an average age of 42. Most needed a loan to pay for a car or home improvements, although one borrower planned to use the money for a wedding (aaah, bless!).

Now for the financials: you choose your level of risk, so I lent money at annual interest rates of between 4.6% and 8% to both "A" and "B" rated borrowers. However, all of these loans attracted a 2% lenders' bonus from Zopa (this special offer has been extended throughout April), boosting my returns to between 6.6% and 10% a year before bad debt write-offs. Furthermore, I received two bottles of Fairtrade wine for lending more than a grand, plus £30 for introducing a friend as a Zopa member. Not bad, huh?

So, how does Zopa make its money? It earns commissions from the sale of payment protection insurance, plus it charges borrowers a fee of 1% of their loan. However, from 5 April, borrowers will pay an upfront fee of 0.5% of their loan (which comes to £25 on a loan of £5,000) and, from 12 April, lenders will pay an annual fee of 0.5% of their outstanding lending, which will be calculated and paid monthly.

So, if you want to join Zopa as a lending member, getting in before 12 April will mean that you avoid paying annual fees, so don't leave things to the last minute!

Finally, if you're wondering about the weird name, Zopa stands for "zone of possible agreement", which describes the overlap between the highest price that one person is prepared to pay and the lowest price that another person is prepared to receive. Hence, without this Zopa overlap, you can't make a deal!

Are you using an autoresponder? If not, it is something I would strongly recommend. An email autoresponder sends out a sequence of automated messages (emails) to your contact list. Most common autoresponder's run of a server online. There are also autoresponder software programs that run directly from your computer and connection and sends out the messages the same way outlook works (usually pop3 or IMAP).

Autoresponders are the key to maximizing your profits from your mailing list. Autoresponder's are great for getting better results with less effort. You can simply set up your sequence of messages and forget about it. It is like having someone working for you around the clock without having to pay them. Many of the mailing list providers come with powerful autoresponders. With a good mailing list provider you can be sure to get your emails in the inbox instead of the junk box. In this article Shery gives you 11 useful ways that you can put into practice. Enjoy!

1. Pick 4 or more articles you've written that have a common theme and put them in an autoresponder series. Announce it on your site as an e-mail course on the go.

2. If you have a page for related links, create a related links file and put it on autoresponder. This can be a one-page e-mail containing 15-50 links that are of interest to your visitors. Put your own promotional texts or blurbs at the top, middle and bottom of the e-mail.

3. Create a fun or trivia quiz, put it up on your site and put the answers in an autoresponder that your visitors can request. This way, you'll know the people who took your quiz.

4. Write reviews of books, music, e-books, sites, software or anything you can think of and put each review (or related reviews) in an autoresponder. If what you are reviewing have affiliate programs, use your affiliate links in the autoresponder.

5. Run a contest on your site or e-zine, then have your visitors or subscribers send their responses to your autoresponder. This way, you won't have to worry about manually sending them a confirmation receipt.

6. Create a frequently updated autoresponder and let your visitors and/or subscribers know about it. You can put in weekly tips or links to useful resources in the autoresponder and a reminder to the people who request it that you update it every week or on a regular basis (e.g. tell them to request for the same autoresponder again a week from now). You can use this method instead of using autoresponders with limited follow up messages.

7. If you've written 20 or more articles and you have them on separate autoresponder accounts, create a master list for your articles. In this master list, list the titles of your articles, their autoresponder addresses and their short descriptions. You can then just promote this master list.

8. Put excerpts or free chapters of your e-book, book or paid e-mail courses in an autoresponder series, then include your follow up sales letters at the end.

9. If you're selling your own products, put your testimonials on autoresponder, along with the description of your products, an excerpt or a free chapter. This will increase your credibility.

10. Keep track of people who download your free e-book, e-report, or free software by putting their download links in an autoresponder. When you promote your free product, you can just promote the autoresponder address.

11. Put links to your hidden pages on autoresponder. A hidden page could be the affiliate page where you have all the graphics, text links, promotional articles that interested affiliates can use.

12. Let people know they can have free access to your affiliate page by requesting the autoresponder. This way, you can have a list of people who are interested in becoming your affiliates.

Q. So what made you get started with AdSense?

A. I was looking for a way to monetize some of my websites. AdSense is such an easy thing to get started with the eye for it would be a great way to start earning more money without actually putting into much more effort. I think as soon as you see the first earnings coming into your account you get addicted to AdSense. I know is what happened to me and since then I've just spent time working out how to earn more and more each day.

Q. How much do you make with AdSense?

A. Some days I can earn close to $1000 and others it's less than that. But it all comes down to how much time and effort you devote to creating a quality site that people like visiting. AdSense is not what my business is based on by any means - but it is a great way to earn revenue almost on autopilot.

Q. What is the biggest mistake people making with AdSense?

A. Probably the biggest mistake people make is thinking the AdSense earnings are easy to achieve. It is very easy to get started but as I learned it takes a lot of effort to increase your earnings. I got really downhearted whenever I would log in to my account to see that I had only made a few dollars. And that's when I decided to spend months and months of my time learning everything I could about AdSense.

I basically buried myself away and devoured every single piece of AdSense information I could find. I ran thousands of AdSense tests and started to see a dramatic effect on my click through ratio and therefore on my earnings.

This is why I'd decided to record the videos - because I knew that it would help people who were in my position to also increase their earnings. I've read an absolute ton of AdSense e-book's but they take so long to go through and always seem to keep information back.

ROR is a rapidly growing XML format for describing your website in a generic fashion, so that search engines can find and discover information more easily. By default ROR information is stored in a ROR file called ror.xml placed in your website's main directory.

ROR is a bit like a website business card. And that card can contain as much information as you want about your website (contact, address, feeds, articles, products, discounts, images, events, etc). You can even provide reviews of other websites.

You can also think of ROR as a master-feed with all your website data and metadata in it, organized in a tree-like structure. Shopping search engines focus on your product section, news search engines focus on your news feed section, etc, local search engines grab your contact section, and general search engines read everything including your sitemap section. And if you have a large website you can generate your ROR file from your website database on a regular basis.

Even worse than no description is mispelling the item

Tom Cruise's Beverly Hills home is haunted. Previous residents of the rented house on Alpine Lane that he is sharing with fiancée, and new mum, Katie Holmes, say they have experienced spooky sensations there.

Among them are Hollywood producer Jon Peters and his teenage daughter, Caleigh. According to America's New York Post newspaper, Caleigh has already told friends that while staying in the property she "heard noises" and said the house was "creepy", "haunted" and "full of ghosts".

Meanwhile, Cruise left his wife-to-be and baby to attend the London premiere of his new movie, 'Mission Impossible III'. The star spent four hours meeting and greeting fans and even gave one 80-year-old admirer, Dorothy Milton, a birthday kiss.

However, he was booed and jeered by the crowd when he took time out from his marathon walkabout to go inside the cinema to introduce the film. Cruise wasn't planning to attend the UK premiere of the action sequel because he wanted to spend time with Holmes and their new daughter, Suri. When asked if he was missing her, he replied: "How can you not? She's beautiful." He added that had been in touch with the former 'Dawson's Creek' star - who he is due to marry later this year - "about a billion times" since leaving her bedside.

Advice to women, this is NOT a Joke

This is worth reading, it will only take you a minute or so and you or someone you pass it to may be very grateful for the advice.

It’s been said that this number works in the UK - thought you should know this… The number does work from a mobile. This actually happened to someone’s daughter.

Lauren was 19 yrs old and in college. This story takes place over the Christmas / New Year’s holiday break. It was the Saturday before New Year and it was about 1pm in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend , when an UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put its lights on. Lauren’s parents have 4 children (of various ages) and
have always told them never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather wait until they get to a service station, etc. So Lauren remembered her parents’ advice, and telephoned 112 from her mobile phone.

This connected her to the police dispatcher. She told the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her and that she would not pull over right away but wait until she was in a service station or busy area. The dispatcher checked to see if there was a police car where she was and there wasn’t and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back-up already on the way.
Ten minutes later 4 police cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her.

One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind.
They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground… the man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.

I never knew that bit of advice, but especially for a woman alone in a car, you do not have to pull over for an UNMARKED car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a “safe” place. You obviously need to make some signals that you acknowledge them i.e., put on your hazard-lights or call 112 like Lauren did. Using Google Sitemaps

I’ve been working online for nearly 10 years now as an entreprenuer and a marketer, but the other day I stumbled across Google Sitemaps after a recommendation from a fellow onliner (thanks Todd).

You can find Google Sitemaps at:

Googles Overview of Sitemaps states….

...Sitemaps are a two-way communication between webmasters and Google. You can give us information about your site so we can index it more effectively, and we can show you how we see your site and tell you about any trouble we’ve had crawling it.

This is excellent news!!!

After adding just a few pages from a number of my websites, Google Sitemaps started to index them and report to me issues around links on my pages that didn’t work and reporting statistics about my websites.

I’ll keep you informed on my progress…

Britney and Kevin on the rocks?

Britney Spears has sparked further reports her marriage to Kevin Federline is in trouble, after she failed to attend his album listening party on Friday.

The couple and their seven-month-old son Sean Preston arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week, ahead of aspiring rapper Federline's gig at the Pure nightclub at the Caesar's Palace.

Local newspaper the Las Vegas Review Journal reports the couple were spotted arguing in Caesar's Nero restaurant ahead of Federline's bash and Spears retired to their hotel suite in tears.

Federline went on to perform two songs, America's Most Hated and Rockstar from his debut album Playing With Fire, after an introduction by Paris Hilton's mother Kathy.

Federline entertained a few hundred fans, as well as celebrity friends, former Fresh Prince Of Bel Air actress Tatiana Ali and Kathy's husband Rick - but his superstar wife was nowhere to be seen.
